Organizing in Romania a regional event dedicated to the Central and Eastern European media market was one of the main topics of the talks held by the Romanian representatives present at the International Market of Communications Programs (MIPCOM 2018), held in Cannes from 15 to 18 October 2018.
Seven Romanian companies have promoted Romanian TV formats and movies productions, along with important names in the international entertainment industry. The seven companies, under the Creative Romanian Film Makers (CRFM) brand name, are: Alien Film Entertainment, Blue Film, Digital Cube, Malno, Mora TV, StudioSet Production and Zucchero.
Much of the MIPCOM – 2018 international event program was dedicated to presenting the most innovative productions and service packages in the world television industry. The film and innovative formats screenings were followed by discussions, seminars and workshops, attended by famous names from the world of international entertainment.
Discussions within the Romanian stand referred to the opportunity to organize, a regional event in Romania, which is to be dedicated to the Central and Eastern European media market, as well as to the Black Sea basin media market. The event would benefit from the participation of the National Association of Broadcasters in America and Reed Midem with a portfolio of over 550 trade fairs, as co-founders. The talks were attended by industry leaders representatives and Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship representatives and Ted Baracos the vice president of development at Reed Midem, the world’s largest trade fair organizers.
Another important topic discussed with the Romanian companies present at the fair was the preparation for the participation in the April 2019 edition of the MIPTV fair, held at the same time with the Romanian-French cultural seasons, events that will take place during Romania’s European Union Council Presidency.
In Cannes, the Romanian delegation presented the launch of the state aid scheme to support the film industry in Romania – a long-awaited initiative by both Romanian companies and international producers and co-producers interested in making such productions in our country.
The representatives of the participating companies expressed their willingness to carry on with the Romanian presence during the following years, both at this event and at other international events whose main purpose is to promote creative industries and promote creativity in TV movies, short films and documentary films.
An important event of the world entertainment industry, MIPCOM 2018 brings together over 13,000 participants every year, over 1,000 events and festivals around the world being promoted within this event. Over an area of over 25,000 square meters, 4,700 companies in 110 countries competed to sell their productions to around 5,000 buyers and distributors.
The Romanian participation at the 34th edition of the International Fair for television content, television film, short film and documentary production was organized by the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the Employers’ Federation of Creative Industry – FEPIC.
