The Romanian film producers present at the American Film Market fair in Los Angeles had a series of talks with the representatives of the international networks in the field, during which the major international production companies’ intention to achieve cinematographic projects in Romania was realized.
Seven Romanian cinematographic companies, united under the Creative Romanian Film Makers brand, attended, from October 31st to November 7th, the most important business event of the American and world film industry, namely American Film Market, Los Angeles.
Representatives of Alien Film Entertainment, Imagine8 Stories, MMMM Innovative Pixel, OnVogue Casting & Talent Management, Stormic Design, Studioset Production and Victoria Baltag Production met with important names in the film industry at the Romanian stand as well as in the workshops, conferences and at networking events. Actors (Branscombe Richmond, Basil Hoffman, Peter Malota), producers (Alex Corven, Oliver Theess, Thea Mercouffer, Marie Adler, Marcel Diennet), directors (PJ Letofsky, Arthur Diennet), and also film distributors (representatives of Lionsgate, Spyglass, Creatrix Films, Rock the Boat, Flying Dutchman Pictures) visited the Romanian stand and talked to the Romanian producers.
Equally important and effective were the individual and group meetings the Romanian filmmakers had outside the stand with celebrities such as Nicholas Cage, Bruce Willis, Juliene Moore, Martin Margiela, Vernon Wells, Michael Wayne James, Elena Secota Martell, as well as leading directors or producers in the film industry: Rich Delia, Bill de Ronde, Nigel Sinclair, Mark Gooder, Aaron Paul, Tate Taylor.
Previous participation at major film fairs – Le Marche du Film in Cannes, the Berlinale Festival in Berlin and the AFM 2017 – generated the basis for talks the Romanian film industry producers had during the American Film Market, Los Angeles. The topics approached focused on production, post production, film editing and movie sites installation.
Over 500 people visited Romania’s stand located on the top floor of the Loews hotel in Santa Monica, next to the stands of the famous Lionsgate and California Pictures companies.
Throughout the event, the exhibitors benefited from the support of the Consul General of Romania in Los Angeles, Cosmin Dumitrescu, who accompanied them at the stand opening.
The participation of Romanian companies under the Creative Romanian Film Makers brand at the Los Angeles event was organized by the Ministry for the Business, Trade and Entrepreneurship Environment, in collaboration with the Creative Industries Employers’ Federation (FEPIC), within the Program for Export Promotion and Support, partially funded from the state budget, coordinated in a public-private partnership through the Export Council.
