Eleven startups and more than 150 Romanian technology companies have exhibited and participated in the Web Summit Technology Conference held in Lisbon on 5-8 November.
The event was doubled by a networking session, where over 50 representatives of the Romanian startups held talks with potential investors, business mentors, representatives of business accelerators and business incubators, as well as representatives of some startups from Portugal, the United States and the UK, which are in advanced funding stages, about the best ways to attract the funding needed to expand business.
Also, matters relating to capitalizing on the opportunities offered by the Memorandum of Understanding on the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Economic and Cooperative Cooperation, signed in April by the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Romania and the Ministry of Economy of Portugal on the occasion of the official visit of State Secretary Mihaela Gabriela Voicilă.
H.E. Ioana Bivolaru, Ambassador of Romania in Portugal attended the event along with representatives of the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship and discussed with the participants at the meeting about the governmental measures to support the Romanian start-up ecosystem and the instruments for financing from the state budget the participation of the Romanian tech companies in exhibitions and international economic missions, through the “Internationalization Support Program” administered by the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship. Besides, among the Romanian participants in the Lisbon event included companies whose participation was financed from the state budget through the above-mentioned program.
The meeting of the Romanian network of startups participating in the Web Summit was organized by the Embassy of Romania to the Portuguese Republic through the Lisbon Economic and Commercial Promotion Office, supported by RomanianIT – the global community of tech Romanians (https://romanianit.com/) and the Romania-Portugal Bilateral Chamber of Commerce (http: //www.ccibrp).

This year’s exhibition edition was attended by more than 70,000 professionals from 160 countries.
