Romania’s export growth – the stake of Romanian entrepreneurs participation in the Trade and Investment Exhibition in Ningbo, China



Gabriela Mihaela Voicilă, Secretary of State, attended, together with the Romanian Economic Delegation, the 5th edition of the Trade and Investment Exhibition – in the 17+1 cooperation format – which took place from 8 to 12 June in Ningbo, People’s Republic of China. The exhibition was dedicated to the presentation of products specific to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe to Chinese consumers.

84 Romanian companies exhibited in the national pavilion, on an area of 504 square meters, products such as wines, honey, pastry, jams, natural products, cosmetics, etc. Alongside the Ningbo Exhibition, the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship organized in collaboration with the National Association of Flour Milling and Baking Industries of Romania (ANAMOB) an economic mission; seven companies in the food industry attend such mission headed by Secretary of State Voicilă.

Romanian entrepreneurs had the opportunity to identify and establish new export partnerships both on the Chinese market and in the countries participating in the Ningbo international event through discussions held during the business forums organized in the margins of the exhibition, dedicated to area as: trade, health and safety of agri-food products, education, culture.

The agenda of the Romanian dignitary’s visit included a series of both high-level meetings with Hu Chun Hua, Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council, and the China Deputy Minister of Commerce, with representatives of Zhejiang Province and Ningbo, as well as with entrepreneurs on the Chinese market. On this occasion, Gabriela Mihaela Voicilă stressed the quality of the bilateral dialogue and the importance that Romania continues to further develop the Romanian-Chinese cooperation, both bilaterally and in a wider context, as a member of the European Union. She also presented the Romanian investment climate and legislation and the opportunities offered by strategic public-private partnership projects selected by the Romanian government.

The Romanian delegation present at Ningbo and Secretary of State Voicilă also made a series of visits to local companies interested in logistics facilities, production units in Romania and imports of Romanian agri-food products.
