The reception of models of good practice in the field of dual education was the main theme of the meeting on Wednesday, June 12, in Bucharest, between Minister Ştefan-Radu Oprea and Karl-Josef Laumann, Minister of Labor, Health and Social Protection of the German Land of Renania North – Westfalia.
“The expertise of the most powerful land in economic terms in the field of dual education is very relevant for Romania, in the context of the real economy requirements. Increasing professional skills among young people is one of the Government’s social policy pillars. We have dual education classes that work successfully in Romania, and we want to develop this system, using the model in Northern Rhinelands – Westphalia, by attracting SMEs into training and raising attractiveness among pupils and parents”, said Ştefan-Radu Oprea.
The delegation of Northern Rhinelands -Westphalia also included Heike Gebhard, chairman of Parliament’s Committee on Labor, Health and Social Protection, Anja Weber, regional president of the German Confederation of Trade Unions, Andreas Ehlert, President of the Dusseldorf Chamber of Crafts and Skilled Trades, Hans-Joachim Hering, President of the Entrepreneurs Association, Arndt G. Kirchhoff, President of the Regional Union of Business Associations, David Mintert, Director of the Arbeit und Leben DGB / VHS Vocational Training Institution, and Berthold Schröder, Vice President of the Confederation of Crafts and Skilled Trades in Western Germany.
Other topics addressed in the meeting were the German investments in Romania and the European labor legislation in relation to the companies’ needs.
Northern Rhinelands – Westphalia (NRW) is the most economically strong German country with a GDP of 705.1 billion Euros in 2018 (20.8% of Germany’s total GDP).
In 2018, Romania-NRW bilateral trade was 5.7 billion Euros, which represents almost one fifth of total trade with Germany. Exports to NRW reached a record figure, namely Euros 3 billion (+ 20% versus 2017).
