Five Romanian screenings, including the short film “Roșu și albastru în proporții egale” (“Red and Blue in Equal Amounts”), participating in the CineFondation competition this year and the film “Touch Me Not”, a movie that won the Berlinale 2018 trophy, were presented at the Cannes Festival – 2018. Also, director Adina Pintilie held a meeting with the international audience in which she answered a series of questions on Romanian art and cinema.
Romania participated in Cannes from 8 to 17 May 2018 at the 71st edition of the International Fair in the field of film industry, television film production, short film and documentary. This important event of the European cinema industry is the annual meeting place of nearly 13000 participants around the world, of which approximately 4000 are producers, over 3,000 are buyers and distributors. Over 1,000 events and festivals around the world have been promoted within this event. Romania’s participation in one of the most prestigious events is a real chance for the companies to promote products and services, as well as creativity in the artistic, television, short film and documentary film.
Much of the Le Marché du Film au Cannes Festival International Fair – 2018 program was dedicated to presenting the latest and most innovative production and service packages in the European and world cinema industry. The film screenings were complemented by discussions, seminars and workshops attended by famous names in the world of international cinema. During the discussions at the Romanian stand, the companies presented their objectives for participation in the fair, stressing the possibility of continuing to attend the future editions of this event and of other international events whose main purpose is to promote creative industries.
The Romanian participation at the Le Marché du Film au Cannes Festival International Fair – 2018 took place under the export support and promotion program, partially funded from the state budget, coordinated by the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship in public-private partnership, through the Export Council. The event was part of the project initiated by the Creative Industries Employers’ Federation (FEPIC) to promote cinema and Romanian companies as part of the Romanian creative industries.
The Cannes National Pavilion was organized on a 55 sq m area where seven Romanian film promotion companies exhibited under the Creative Romanian Film Makers (CRFM) brand: Ago Vision Production S.R.L., Blue Film S.R.L., Chainsaw Film Romania S.R.L., Dropia Film S.R.L., On Vogue S.R.L., Retina Film Production S.R.L., WebService Consulting S.R.L.
