PRESS RELEASE
Ştefan-Radu Oprea, Minister for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, had a meeting in Dubai with representatives of the Romanian companies participating in GITEX 2018, the most important exhibition of ICT in the Middle East.
During the talks, Minister Oprea presented to Romanian businesspeople the support they can benefit from on the foreign markets, through the contribution of the external network of economic advisers and through the access to the Internationalization program, which finances the participation at fairs and exhibitions under their own brand. The Minister met with the representatives of the 15 Romanian companies participating under the national flag, but also with other companies participating in their own name. Among them, Wello, a Cluj-based start-up developer of software and artificial intelligence solutions, was selected from 750 companies in the Supernova Challenge GITEX final. The presence of the 15 companies under the national flag is subsidized through public programs run by the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship.
“Romanian companies and the Government have common goals – to enter new markets with quality products, to increase exports and to develop a competitive economy”, said Ștefan-Radu Oprea.
During a visit to GITEX, Minister Oprea had a meeting with representatives of Dubai Customs, the customs authority in the Emirate, and the discussions focused on identifying best practices for services provided to companies involved in import-export operations. Also, Ştefan-Radu Oprea met Mr. Khaled al Melhi, Injazat CEO – company owned by the Mubadala investment fund – to whom he presented the IT market in Romania. Khaled al Melhi expressed interest in investing in Romania by opening of a center of excellence.
Also on Wednesday, Ştefan-Radu Oprea met Mohammed Al Muallem, CEO of DP World UAE, who presented projects to expand investments in Constanţa Harbor and to build four other logistics centers in Romania.
