The European Union’s priorities in the field of trade during the Romanian presidency of the European Union Council were discussed today in Bucharest at the meeting between Minister Ştefan-Radu Oprea and Bernd Lange, chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade. The two officials reviewed the legislative and non-legislative dossiers to be handled in the first half of 2019.
“The priorities of this mandate are linked to the idea of promoting the European Union as a stronger global actor by negotiating free trade agreements and a rule-based international trading framework. Signing a free trade agreement with Vietnam is possible in the first half of next year”, said Ştefan-Radu Oprea, Minister for the Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship.
Today’s meeting was attended by Iuliu Winkler, Vice-President of the INTA Committee.
On January 23, 2019, in Brussels, Ştefan-Radu Oprea will present the priorities of the Romanian presidency to the members of the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee in a public session.
